Kenya

The last stage of the trip through Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya. Some full 2 days of safari in Masaii Mara with the epic finale being coming really close to the leopard, but also seeing both lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffe and serval cats, and of course plenty of zebras and antelopes. On the final day when we reached Nairobi we also visited an elephant nursery before finally going home.

Uganda

The second stop on our trip through eastern(ish) Africa. Walking safari at Lake Mburu, later sitting by the camp fire and see how a massive hippopotamus casually walks between our tents. A quick stop at the equator. Then a wonderful stay in Jinja and the chance to see the source of the river Nile.

Rwanda

At some point in life I had to see the mountain gorillas. And 2013 was the year. Went with my to-be wife on a organized “bus-trip” through Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya. Rwanda was the shortest stay and the main attraction was the gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, Ruhengeri. It was a pain to climb the mountain to get there, but well worth it in the end.

Kyiv / Chernobyl / Pripyat

Weekend trip to Kyiv, Ukraine. Strolling about downtown Kyiv, exploring churches and the local cuisine. One day spent in Chernobyl/Pripyat with private tour guide on a very gloomy day. Extremely fitting when thinking about what went down on that catastrophic day. One of the most interesting trips I’ve done so far.

Cape Verde

A diving trip with a friend. Went to island Sal and the town of Santa Maria to improve my diving skills. After some days of diving I had my PADI Advanced Open Water certificate. Also managed to get a quite bad sunburn during one of the days on the sea. Made my deepest dive the last day of diving, reached the depth of 32-33 meter below sea level. Not much else went on to be honest.
